Read about the highlights of our recent efforts:
The JTA celebrated a major milestone on April 17th with the ribbon cutting of the Autonomous Innovation Center (AIC). The AIC is the command hub for the Ultimate Urban Circulator (U2C), our program to introduce autonomous vehicles (AVs) to Jacksonville. At the ribbon cutting, guests toured the new facility, which will store, service, monitor and maintain the AV fleet. Located at 650 W. Bay Street in LaVilla, the AIC plays a critical role in the launch of the first phase of the U2C this summer. Learn more about the AIC here.
The Authority also unveiled the new name for the AV service, NAVI, which stands for Neighborhood Autonomous Vehicle Innovation. This name represents how the new AV service will connect the urban core with surrounding neighborhoods to support downtown revitalization. The first phase, the Bay Street Innovation Corridor, includes a 3.5-mile route connecting Jacksonville’s Central Business Core to the Sports & Entertainment District. Learn more about the BSIC here.
We're proud to announce being awarded the Gold Safety Award at APTA’s Mobility Conference for our Safety on the Move Bus. This mobile classroom travels throughout Jacksonville, providing free opioid overdose prevention training and distributing lifesaving Narcan kits to attendees.
Finally, we recently brought home exceptional honors from the 2025 APTA International Bus Roadeo. Congratulations to Bus Operator Ramon Farfan for Third Place Operator & USSC Pre-Trip Inspection Winner and the Xpendables maintenance team, George McGarry, Rudolph Wells and Jarrod Morales, for being named the USSC Vehicle Inspection Winner. We are thankful for their dedication to the JTA and our customers.
