HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS

Learn how JTA operates in preparation for a hurricane or during other inclement weather by visiting the Severe Weather page.

On the Street Tips

Look for the sign

Every JTA stop has a posted bus stop sign. To find your closest stop, check your route map first. It will tell you on which streets your bus travels. Then look for the stop signs along the route. They are located every few blocks.

Finding your bus at the JRTC

Buses at Jacksonville Regional Transportation Center are assigned a bay where they pick up riders. The bays are lettered, starting with A at the end farthest from the main building. The monitors in the area periodically show a list of bus routes and their bay assignments.

How to signal the operator to stop for pick-up

When the vehicle comes into view, stand up and flag the operator to stop.

How to pay

Passengers should be prepared to pay exact cash fare (operators do not carry change), simply tap your reloadable STAR Card for payment, or use the My JTA App.

How to signal the operator you want to get off

As the vehicle nears your stop, signal the operator by pushing on the passenger signal strip located near all windows. This informs the operator you wish to get off at the next stop. If you aren't sure where to get off, ask the operator to call out your stop. JTA's operators are very conscientious and will do their best to help. Please exit through the rear doors. This will leave the front area clear for people who are boarding.

What to do while you're on the vehicle

Please take a seat if one is available. If all the seats are full, please move to the rear of the vehicle. You'll find poles to hold on to for greater stability. Hold small children securely.

Accessible transportation

All JTA vehicles are equipped with ramps or wheelchair lifts to assist our passengers upon request.

Service animals

Trained service animals are welcome on all JTA vehicles.

Bikes on Buses

All JTA fixed-route buses are equipped with bike racks. For more information visit the Bikes on Buses page or call (904) 630-3100.
