Employee Recognition

At each Board Meeting, the Jacksonville Transportation Authority awards our outstanding employees for their commitment to our mission, vision and goals. They set an example for everyone through their work, words, and actions every day. This month, we recognized one Maintenance, Bus Operator and Administrative employee.

Please join us in congratulating JTA's Employees of the Month for May 2023!

Sandra smith: Bus Operator

Sandra Smith is the Bus Operator of the Month for May 2023. Sandra has worked for the JTA since January 2022, and is currently assigned to First Coast Flyer Routes 102 and 107. She is also an off-day relief operator in which she drives various routes.

Sandra has maintained a consistent and professional driving record with high regard for customer safety. This includes pre-trip and post-trip bus inspections, along with routine safety checks throughout the day. During her tenure, these critical safety checks have earned her several awards. She has no tardiness, absences, accidents, or customer service complaints for the past year.

Sandra also consistently provides excellent customer service with a smile as she transports customers to their destinations. When asked what she enjoys most about working at JTA, she replied, "I love driving the bus around the city and serving the riding public. It gives me great satisfaction when I can get my passengers to where they need to go."

Sandra's positive impact on her customers is always felt. She is always there to assist those in getting to their destination. One of her regular customers expressed her gratitude with a handwritten card for Sandra on Mother's Day, a testament to Sandra's customer service.

Sandra has two daughters. When she is not working, she loves shopping, traveling, reading, gardening, dancing, listening to music, and doing arts and crafts.

Clark has maintained a consistent and professional safety record; he is always looking for ways to streamline Maintenance processes to ensure his staff is working to the best of their abilities and as a team. He requested that each maintenance bay has an anti-fatigue mat placed in the areas where employees incur prolonged standing while working on vehicles. He also ensure his staff and others have proper Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and are following PPE decorum.

He will also go above and beyond to making sure everyone is treated with respect, and provides great customer service to all internal customers.

Clark is married, has two children, and is an ordained minister. In his spare time, he enjoys serving the community and spending time with his family.
