JTA to host 2023 UITP North America Forum in downtown Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, FL — The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) is set to host the 2023 UITP North America Forum in downtown Jacksonville alongside the Belgian organization, the International Association of Public Transport.

The UITP North America Forum will take place from February 1-3 at the Marriott hotel in downtown Jacksonville. The forum, which annually rotates among North American cities, is being held in Jacksonville for the first time. Attendees will be able to learn from global transit executives on topics such as building sustainable public transportation, building urban life around transit, and establishing cyber-resilient transit systems.

“As the JTA works towards bringing more transportation opportunities to Jacksonville residents, we are looking forward to hosting transit officials from around the world,” said JTA CEO Nathaniel P. Ford Sr. “By having the 2023 UITP North America Forum in Jacksonville, we will be able to showcase our future plans for our public transportation network by meeting and engaging with the industry’s top officials.”

Among the featured transit executives set to be in attendance include FTA Deputy Administrator Veronica Vanterpool, Houston Metro CEO Kimberly Williams, IndyGo CEO Inez Evans, and Vice President of Rail Canada Éric Labarette.

In addition, the JTA will host the JTA Autonomous Vehicle Network Technical Tour on February 1 at the Armsdale Test & Learn Center. This will give participants a behind the scenes look at the JTA’s autonomous vehicle fleet and their plans for the deployment of the Bay Street Innovation Corridor.

The 2023 UITP North America Forum was originally scheduled for September 27-29, 2022 but was postponed due to the impacts of Hurricane Ian in Jacksonville and throughout Florida.
