Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) Launches new MyJTA Mobile App Oct. 24

JACKSONVILLE, FL. (October 19, 2022) – The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) is launching the revamped MyJTA mobile app on Monday, October 24, 2022, empowering passengers to plan, pay, and travel all from one seamless mobile experience.

The free app can be downloaded beginning Oct. 23 from the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. It replaces the current MyJTA app powered by Passport, which expires December 31, 2022.

To celebrate, all JTA customers can ride bus routes, the First Coast Flyer, and the St. Johns River Ferry free of charge Oct. 24 – 31. Customers who download the MyJTA app and create an account will qualify for a free pass for JTA bus routes and the First Coast Flyer good for the entire month of November, (valid Nov. 1 – 30).

Token Transit will continue to power the app’s mobile ticketing feature with its cloud-based ticketing platform.

“This innovative refresh to our premier mobile application is about making the customer experience easier, intuitive and more efficient,” said JTA Chief Executive Officer Nathaniel P. Ford Sr. “With touchless payment and boarding, trip planning, and up-to-the-minute information, we are giving customers more control over how they pay, plan, and travel through our system, while laying the foundation for continued improvements through our MOVE2027 Strategic Plan.”

Customers will no longer need to use the JTA See & Say mobile app or the Nextbus mobile app, as service alerts and real-time passenger information are built into the new MyJTA app.

The MyJTA app’s journey planning tools include real-time arrival information so riders know exactly when their bus is arriving, Live Directions with Get-Off Alerts for extra step-by-step guidance, and Service Alerts so they can avoid disruptions on their favorite routes, and plan their journey accordingly. It combines official information from the JTA as well as crowdsourced information to calculate the best route for each journey. Through Token Transit’s fare payments technology, MyJTA allows users to purchase and validate mobile tickets for their journeys in a convenient and contactless way using unique QR codes that are scanned onboard JTA vehicles.

MyJTA allows customers to purchase fares for JTA bus routes, the First Coast Flyer, ReadiRide, JTA Express Select, Connexion & Connexion Plus paratransit services, and the St. Johns River Ferry.

Once a user launches the MyJTA app, inputs a destination, and selects a transportation route, MyJTA will:

  • Provide step-by-step directions: Whether it’s a single bus trip, transferring routes, or minimizing walking time, MyJTA provides directions tailored to a passenger’s personal preferences.
  • Enable in-app ticket purchasing: MyJTA users will be able to purchase fares directly in the app.
  • Provide a unique QR code for ticket validation: MyJTA will display a digital ticket and QR code that can be visually inspected or scanned at validation machines.

Future phases of the MyJTA app will include trip planning and scheduling for ReadiRide, JTA Express Select, Connexion & Connexion Plus paratransit services, and more.
