Hurricane Dorian Advisory – Transit Services Closure

JACKSONVILLE – To ensure the safety and security of customers and employees, the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) will suspend all transit services on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 1 p.m. in advance of potential impacts of Hurricane Dorian.

This includes all fixed routes, First Coast Flyer BRT lines and the Skyway.

Starting on Tuesday, JTA’s Connexion paratransit service will only perform life-sustaining and evacuation trips. Customers with special needs must register with the city of Jacksonville at (904) 630-CITY in order to access transportation to a special needs shelter.

Evacuation shuttles stationed at Jacksonville Beach Elementary, Mayport Middle School and Fletcher High School will remain active until 8 p.m. tonight. Shuttles will resume service at those locations at 9 a.m. on Tuesday and run as long as conditions are safe to do so. To find your evacuation zone please visit the JaxReady website.

The St. Johns River Ferry was relocated from Mayport Village on Monday and will remain closed until further notice.

The JTA anticipates resuming normal transit operations on Thursday morning, weather permitting. An exact time will be communicated on Wednesday.

We are monitoring Dorian’s continued path toward Northeast Florida and will continue to coordinate with the city of Jacksonville Emergency Operations Center and our partner agencies.

Any further updates or changes to JTA transit operations, paratransit services and regional services will be announced through JTA social media and to local news outlets.

For a complete list of JTA resources available to you and your family before, during and after a hurricane, or for what to do in the event of a city-ordered evacuation visit our Hurricane Evacuation webpage.
