(Jacksonville, FL – July 7, 2026) The Jacksonville Transportation Authority will hold a series of community meetings in July to present on a proposed fare modification and route adjustments.

The service changes are part of the JTA’s proposed 2026-2027 budget, which would begin Oct. 1. All proposed fare changes would not take effect until Jan 1, 2027.

The base fare would increase from $1.75 to $2.00 – the JTA’s first fare increase since 2019.

The fare increase would be just the second for the JTA since 2012. Most of the JTA’s peer cities – including Miami, Orlando, Palm Beach and Broward County – have had fares of at least $2 for more than a decade.

Fare revenues account for about 6 percent of JTA’s budget, one of the lowest among peer agencies in the Southeast. Fares are about 10 percent of operating costs for peer agencies.

The upcoming community meetings will be:

  • Tuesday, July 14, 4-6 p.m.: William “Bill” Gulliford Jr. Community Center (Mayport), 4875 Ocean Street

  • Thursday, July 16, 5-7 p.m.: Charles Webb Wesconnett Regional Library, 6887 103rd Street
