(Jacksonville, FL – July 29, 2026) The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) Board of Directors plans to begin meeting in August to start the process for hiring its next CEO.

On Wednesday, the Board of Directors created a CEO Selection Committee to coordinate the search. All seven members of the JTA Board of Directors will be on the committee.

The Board did not set a date for the CEO Search Committee’s first meeting. That meeting is expected to outline the hiring and selection process, including whether to hire a national search firm to manage it.

The Board of Directors discussed a timeline that includes accepting applications into October, conducting interviews in the fall with the goal of making a decision in December.

“This process needs to be deliberate, intentional and transparent to deliver the most qualified candidate to lead the JTA,” Chairman Aundra Wallace said.

JTA CEO Nat Ford announced his resignation earlier this month and subsequently accepted the CEO position with Dallas Area Rapid Transit. Ford will be leaving the JTA in October and begins in Dallas on Oct. 26.
