JTA Begins Leadership Transition Process
After nearly 14 years of leadership, JTA CEO Nat Ford will depart the Jacksonville Transportation Authority in October following his July announcement of his plans to resign and his later acceptance of the CEO position with Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART).
During his time at JTA, Ford helped guide the Authority through a period of significant growth and innovation, overseeing major milestones including the construction of the Jacksonville Regional Transportation Center, the development of the First Coast Flyer Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, and the advancement of the Ultimate Urban Circulator (U²C) Program, including the launch of the Neighborhood Autonomous Vehicle Innovation (NAVI) service.
To support a seamless leadership transition, the JTA Board of Directors has established a CEO Selection Committee, comprised of all seven Board members, to oversee the search process. The Board is currently working to identify an interim CEO and will discuss internal candidates at its August 26 meeting.
The Board has also begun the process of selecting a search firm to support the national search for the next permanent CEO, with the goal of making a selection by the end of the year.
The JTA remains committed to delivering safe, reliable, and innovative transportation services while continuing to build on the strong foundation established under Ford's leadership.
Community Feedback Helps Shape Transportation
Thank you to everyone who joined us at our recent community meetings and public hearing to learn about the proposed fare and service changes. We appreciate everyone who took the time to ask questions, share feedback, and engage in the conversation.

Thank you for helping shape the future of public transportation in Northeast Florida.
CEO Nat Ford Visits Fleet Landing
The JTA visited Fleet Landing WELLInspired Senior Living Community in Atlantic Beach to discuss how autonomous mobility is transforming public transportation and improving how people connect to the places, services, and people who matter most.
During the presentation, JTA CEO Nat Ford introduced residents to NAVI, the U²C Program, and the future of autonomous transportation. The discussion highlighted how innovative mobility solutions can enhance safety, improve accessibility, and provide greater independence and connectivity for people of all ages.
Thank you to the Fleet Landing community for the opportunity to share our vision for the future of mobility and engage in a meaningful conversation about the role autonomous transportation can play in our community.
