Frequently Asked Questions

In February 2024, the Northeast Florida Regional Council (NEFRC) solicited a request for proposals to perform transportation services for Nassau County.

On June 3, 2024, the JTA was awarded a contract with the state commission for transportation disadvantaged and named the Community Transportation Coordinator (CTC) for Nassau County. As CTC, the JTA has been requested to perform Transportation Disadvantaged (TD) services and will follow the direction of the local transportation board.

To be eligible, one must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Nassau County resident

  • Must complete an application

  • Must have no other means of transportation

In the beginning, the focus will be on life sustaining and medical trips based on the priorities of the Transportation Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board. In the transitional service period following October 1, JTA will continue to work with Nassau County Council on Aging and the Board of County Commissioners to strive for a smooth transition.

No, you do not need to reapply if your existing eligibility meets all criteria. However, you may be contacted for updated information to ensure we have the most accurate details for providing your service. With funding for the TD program being limited by the State, the recertification process will be completed annually with customers needing to provide new proof of income and verification of other eligibility criteria to qualify for services.

The JTA is working closely with Nassau County Council on Aging to understand current services, vehicles, geography and most importantly, the customers. The JTA will be continuously deploying outreach staff to meet with the community regarding the transition and assisting with any issues/concerns in a prompt manner. The JTA will be conducting all the required training for drivers and staff to ensure they are fully prepared to serve you effectively.

If you encounter any problems or issues, please continue to contact the JTA/Nassau Transit Customer Contact Center immediately. For any immediate or urgent concerns, call: (904) 261-0700, or for any feedback, call JTA Customer Service: (904) 630-3100. We are here to address your concerns and resolve any issues as quickly as possible.

The transition started on June 3, 2024 and will be completed on October 1, 2024.
