Is the JTA discontinuing paratransit services?

No. The JTA will continue to provide Connexion paratransit services as required by federal law.

What is the difference between Connexion and Connexion Plus paratransit services?

Connexion is the City of Jacksonville’s paratransit service, provided by the JTA. Connexion delivers destination-to-destination, SHARED public transportation for people with disabilities who are functionally unable to use fixed-route services for their transportation needs, and for people who are transportation disadvantaged (TD).

In 2019, the JTA launched Connexion Plus, a premium, on-demand, private (NON-SHARED), same-day, door-to-door service, much like an Uber/Lyft ride for eligible ADA or TD customers.

What changes will be made to paratransit services in the pilot program?

Connexion service will be providing same day trips based on availability.

There will be NO change to Connexion Plus service. There will be a change in the fare structure stated below.

What improvements have been made to the Connexion service? Is it reliable?

Over the last 5 years, the JTA has made significant improvements to our Connexion service, increasing reliability and on-time performance, expanding and upgrading the Connexion fleet with brand new vehicles, and improving the rider experience across the 762 square miles we serve. Connexion has a 93 percent destination on-time performance over the last 3 years. Connexion Plus customers can rely on our Connexion service.

Is there a change to the reservation process?

NO. There is no change to how you make reservations.
