Youth ID Star Card with BOGO Offer

JTA Launches Youth ID STAR Card with BOGO Offer

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA – June 16, 2015 – Get your Youth STAR Card today! The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) invites youth ages 7-18 to purchase a 31-day pass on the NEW Purple Youth ID STAR Card today through July 31 and receive a second pass free. This amounts to 62 days of travel for only $30. This deal is limited to youth with a “purple” ID STAR Card only. Discounts are not given for single rides or other types of passes.

“Our youth rely on our services in the summer to get to their jobs, libraries, summer school, parks and more,” said JTA Chief Executive Officer Nathaniel P. Ford Sr. “We are pleased to provide youth with this exceptional BOGO offer.”

Youth ages 7-18 years old will be required to have a valid, purple Youth STAR Card with his or her photo I.D. on the back in order to take advantage of the BOGO 31-day pass deal at a discounted rate of $30 (vs. the standard cost of $50). As of September 30, Youth Silver Star tickets will no longer be available for purchase and the youth silver tickets will not be accepted on JTA buses after November 1.

To take advantage of this offer, youth between 7 and 18 years of age must visit the STAR Card Villa at Rosa Parks Transit Station in downtown Jacksonville. Individuals should bring eligibility documentation such as a school I.D. and a birth certificate or other government issued I.D. Children ages 7-14 years old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The staff will verify eligibility, take photos and issue a new purple Youth STAR Card. When a youth 31-day pass is purchased for $30, Rosa Park staff will load a second 31-day pass on the same purple STAR Card for free.

When riders use a STAR Card instead of cash, it saves time and money. The STAR Card looks like a credit card or a debit card, but it has a computer chip inside that can be loaded and reloaded for up to three years with value passes or cash value. The card offers features such as Balance Protection and convenient reloading.
