Three Transportation Professionals Named to JTA Executive Team

Jacksonville Transportation Authority, CEO Nathaniel P. Ford, Sr. today announced the hiring of three additional members of the public transit agency’s executive leadership team.

Alice Tolbert Cannon is joining JTA as Vice President, External Affairs. She will be responsible for managing the agency’s business development, sales and customer relations units, as well as JTA’s marketing, government relations and public/media relations efforts. A former executive of external affairs for both Morehouse School of Medicine and MARTA in Atlanta, Cannon has spent the past seven years as senior manager of Parsons Brinckerhoff’s Atlanta office.

Henry Li has been hired as JTA’s Vice President, Finance and Administration/CFO. Li, who currently serves as Chief Financial and Administrative Officer at Hampton Roads Transit in Hampton, Virginia, will oversee budgeting, accounting, real estate, grants management, human resources, procurement and inventory control at JTA.

Michael J. Sloan has been named Vice President, Compliance and Risk Management. He is responsible for the planning, managing and implementation of safety and security of JTA’s transit operations and enterprise risk management. In addition, Sloan will ensure that JTA meets the requirements for Civil Rights and DBE guidelines and manages the agency’s ethics programs and internal audit functions.

Cannon, Li and Sloan will report directly to the CEO. All three officially begin working at JTA next month.

JTA yesterday announced the appointments of William Moseley as Chief of Staff and Brad Thoburn as Vice President, Long Range Planning, Capital Programs and System Development. The last member of the new executive team will be Vice President, Transit Operations. That position is expected to be filled in the near future.

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority is an independent state agency governed by a seven-member board of directors. JTA operates Jacksonville’s public bus service, downtown automated Skyway and paratransit service, as well as design and build roads and bridges. JTA’s mission is to improve Northeast Florida’s economy, environment and quality of life by providing safe, reliable, and efficient multimodal transportation services and facilities.
