The Mobility Summit deemed a success

The 2010 Mobility Summit, hosted by JTA, ushered in a new era for transportation disadvantaged service in Northeast Florida, as federal, state and local transportation officials, as well as private providers, came together to discuss the delivery of transportation disadvantaged services within and across county lines.

U. S. Congressman John Mica opened The Summit by calling for connectivity at several levels within the region. State Representative Audrey Gibson, a strong supporter of transportation efforts, also participated and brought her father, Ernest Gibson, to share his cross-county transportation challenges. Representatives for the Florida Commission for the Transportation Disadvantaged, Wisconsin Department of Transportation, United We Ride, Northeast Florida Regional Council, U. S. Department of Transportation and the Florida Transportation Association made presentations which were followed by breakout work sessions.

“We want to be the agents of change," Alan Mosley, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Two Secretary, told attendees. "We will identify what we agree on and work to solve the problems."

As a result of The Summit, participants have committed to formulating a draft plan of action by the end of September.
