JTA increasing on-board bus capacity to 30 passengers

JACKSONVILLE, FL.  – Starting Wednesday, May 19, 2021, the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) will increase on-board bus capacity from 25 to 30 passengers.

Seating limits were announced in March 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic began to impact Jacksonville, and as local lockdowns and restrictions were implemented.

This week’s change begins a phased approach in returning to full capacity on board JTA buses as vaccination rates increase and local positivity rates decrease. We anticipate returning to full capacity later this summer.

JTA customers and employees are still required to wear a face covering inside JTA facilities and on board buses, Skyway trains and other transportation services in accordance with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) directive, through at least Sept. 13.

Social distancing and other guidelines from the Florida Department of Health and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) will remain in place, along with advanced cleaning and disinfecting activities that began last year.
