Requesting Public Records

Public records requests may be submitted

Requests must be for records in the possession of or prepared, owned, used or retained by JTA. Requests must contain identifiable records to sufficiently fulfill the request. The request submitter will be notified if JTA is not in the possession of or prepared, owned, used, retained by JTA and/or otherwise not subject to disclosure.

Public Records Request Form

Insufficient Request Submission

Public records requests may be classified as insufficient if records are not clearly identifiable. The request submitter will be contacted for clarification.

Confidentiality

Documents containing confidential information or otherwise exempt from public inspection or copying under the public records law will not be provided. Confidential information will be deleted or redacted from records prior to inspection, examination, or distribution of copies. The request submitter will be notified if JTA is not in the possession of or prepared, owned, used, retained by JTA and/or otherwise not subject to disclosure.

Process

Public records request submissions will be reviewed by the Authority. Response time, production time and cost estimate will be presented to the request submitter as soon as reasonably possible. The request submitter will be notified of the approximate number of pages and length of time the Authority estimates it will take to process the request. A public records request invoice with estimated costs will be sent to the request submitter. Payment (if applicable) must be received by JTA prior to the release of records.

Records Review

Submitters requesting to review records, rather than receive copies, will be notified when requested records are available for review. A records review appointment will be scheduled at JTA business offices during administrative business hours.
