(Jacksonville, FL – May 5, 2025) Today, the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) announced temporary suspension of the St. Johns River Ferry. The closure follows an incident currently under investigation by the JTA and in coordination with the appropriate authorities. No injuries were reported.
The incident that led to the closure occurred the evening of Sunday, May 4th when the ferry struck the boarding ramp while departing from Mayport Landing. Following the encounter, structural inspections of both the bridge and vessel began as well as necessary repairs. Service will resume once complete.
