JTA Schedules Open House for JTAMobilityWorks 8th Street Corridor Project

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA – August 2, 2018 – A public meeting for the JTAMobilityWorks 8th Street Corridor project will be held on Thursday, August 16 at Emmett Reed Community Center. The meeting is an opportunity for the public to learn more about the proposed improvements to 8th Street from I-95 to Boulevard Street.

The goal of the Mobility Corridors Complete Streets Program is to provide a safe, comfortable and convenient environment for all modes of transportation, including pedestrians and cyclists, many of whom are trying to directly access JTA’s system. In addition, these improvements will support “placemaking” opportunities in areas to support community redevelopment and revitalization.

The scope of the 8th Street Complete Streets project includes realignment of existing crosswalks, new crosswalks, and improved bike connectivity. Additionally, JTA is partnering with JEA to replace the existing water main as part of the project.

The meeting will be an open house format where participants are welcome to view the presentations and provide feedback. For details about the project, visit www.jtamobilityworks.com.
