JTA Schedules Community Charrette for Moncrief Road, Myrtle Avenue and 8th Street

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) invites the public to participate in redesigning and improving mobility in the community. The JTA is holding a series of community charrettes (meetings) to focus on the Moncrief Road, Myrtle Avenue and 8th Street corridors. The purpose of these meetings is to discuss bicycle and pedestrian safety, as well as mobility improvements and concerns within the corridor. The project may include items such as sidewalks, bike paths, transit accessibility improvements, lighting, bus shelters, landscaping and more.

JTA needs your ideas, input and feedback to ensure that the vision reflects community values and aspirations. Community involvement and feedback will help determine what projects will be most beneficial to the neighborhoods now and in the future.

The charrettes will be held the week of January 12-14, 2016 at the Emmett Reed Center located at 1093 West 6th Street.

JTAMobilityWorks is a program designed to complete projects funded by the extension of the Local Option Gas Tax. Leveraging that funding, JTA has issued bonds to cover the cost of 27 projects. With the $100 million dollars generated through the bond issuance, JTA will complete 13 roadway and 14 mobility corridors in various areas of Jacksonville over the next five years.
