JTA receives FPTA “Outstanding System” award

JACKSONVILLE, FL. -  The Florida Public Transportation Association (FPTA) named the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) its Outstanding System for 2020 during its annual conference and awards ceremony.

JTA Bus Operator Ronald Parson was named Bus Operator of the Year and Maintenance Technician Sherman Polydor was named Bus Technician of the Year.

Parson has been with the Authority since 1987. He currently drives Route 51 (Edgewood) and is known for his infectious smile, great customer service and polished safety record.  Polydor is the JTA’s Assistant Vehicle Maintenance Manager and joined the Authority in 2012. His attention to detail, leadership qualities and concern for his customers set him apart from the competition. Each will receive a personalized awards plaque from the FPTA.

“Sherman and Ronald exhibit the best qualities and values we look for in our employees at the JTA,” said JTA Chief Executive Officer Nathaniel P. Ford Sr. “The recognition by their industry peers means even more in 2020 as we collectively face the challenges of this public health emergency. I am proud to call them colleagues.”

The JTA Public Affairs Department was also recognized with several awards in the FPTA’s Marketing Awards categories including:

  • 1st Place in the Print Instructional Information category for the redesigned JTA Bus Schedules
