JTA Offers “Two for One” Summer Youth Pass

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA – May 30, 2017 – Get your Youth STAR Card today! The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) invites individuals ages 7-18 to purchase a 31-day pass on the Purple Youth ID STAR Card from June 1 through July 31, 2017 and receive a second pass at no charge. This deal is limited to youth with a “purple” ID STAR Card only. Discounts are not given for single rides or other types of passes.

“This two for one offer opens up a summer of independence and adventure for young people wanting to explore Jacksonville using public transit this summer,” said JTA Chief Executive Officer Nathaniel P. Ford Sr. “STAR Cards save them and their parents’ time and money.”

Persons between 7 and 18 years old will be required to have a valid, Purple Youth STAR Card with his or her photo I.D. on the back in order to obtain the “Buy one, get one” (BOGO) 31-day pass deal at the discounted rate of $30 (vs. the standard cost of $50). This amounts to 62 days of travel for only $30.

If you do not already have a Purple Youth ID STAR Card, please visit the STAR Card Center at Rosa Parks Transit Station in downtown Jacksonville. The center is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Individuals should bring eligibility documentation such as a birth certificate or any government issued I.D. with proof of age. Children ages 7-14 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The staff will verify eligibility, take photos and issue a new Purple Youth STAR Card.

When a youth 31-day pass is purchased for $30, staff will load a second 31-day pass on the same purple STAR Card at no charge. STAR Cards can be reloaded online. However, the Youth Pass Summer BOGO is only available at the Rosa Parks STAR Card Center. The card also features Balance Protection.
