JTA Completes Soutel Transit Hub on Jacksonville’s Northside

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA – July 22, 2016 – This morning, the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) celebrated the opening of the Soutel Transit Hub. The ceremony included a ribbon cutting and remarks from JTA CEO Nathaniel P. Ford Sr., State Representative Mia Jones and Councilman Reginald Brown.

The new hub is comprised of two shelters with amenities, including trash cans, benches, ticket vending machines and bike racks. Starting in August, the hub will connect to Routes 3 and 4.

“We are pleased to open the new transit hub across from the Legends Center,” said JTA Chief Executive Officer Nathaniel P. Ford Sr. “The addition of sidewalks and a crosswalk from the hub to the Legends Center will improve pedestrian access and safety.”

The project included an extension of Linda Lane from Sibbald Road to Soutel Drive. The two-lane roadway was constructed in front of Charles Boobie Clark Park. The roadway has new curb and gutter, sidewalk and lighting on the north side of the road, a new traffic signal on Soutel and crosswalk improvements at Sibbald and Soutel.
