Skyway Public Forum - November 15

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA – November 10, 2016 – The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) will host a public forum on Tuesday, November 15 to discuss the Skyway and engage the community in a conversation about its future.

Last December, the JTA Board of Directors approved a recommendation by staff to develop a Skyway Modernization Program. The plan will consider future technology, potential system expansion and an operating plan. It will also cover near, mid and long term improvements. Community input is critical during plan development.

If you have not noticed, the Skyway is getting a fresh new look as we finalize the framework for the modernization plan. The system is 27 years old and the vehicles were in need of a face-lift. The existing vehicles are being updated with a silver and blue color scheme that gives us an opportunity to use JTA’s current branding. Look for the vehicles as they glide over the St. Johns River and above Downtown city streets. Also coming is updated Skyway station signage and other improvements.

Community feedback about the future of the Skyway is important to us. Please take a few moments to complete a new short survey at www.jtafla.com/skywaysurvey
