Skyway Open for Community First Saturdays

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) announced today that it will extend its Skyway service hours to include the first Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to accommodate Community First Saturday festival goers. The extended service hours will begin on September 7, 2013 and run through May 3, 2013.

“JTA’s Skyway provides a unique and complimentary opportunity for Community First Saturday attendees to travel to family-friendly destinations with ease,” said JTA Vice President of External Affairs Alice Cannon. “The Skyway is a great mode of transportation that services a number of wonderful places of interest in the Downtown core, including restaurants, shops, museums and entertainment venues.”

In its second season, Community First Saturdays, a JAX Chamber initiative, will kick off this Saturday, September 7, 2013 on the Northbank Riverwalk.

“The activation of the Skyway for Community First Saturdays allows participating families to venture out and explore more of Downtown Jacksonville. One trip on the Skyway and people will realize what a thrill it is to soar over the Downtown area and across the beautiful St. Johns River,” said Tony Allegretti, JAX Chamber’s Director of Downtown Engagement.  “At Community First Saturdays, the JAX Chamber is also building an easy to participate digital scavenger hunt called Operation Skyway that highlights the system’s connectivity to great places like the MOSH, Friendship Fountain, MOCA and our award winning Main Library.”

JTA offers a Park-n-Ride lot located at the Convention Center Station. For additional information, please contact JTA’s customer service at 904-630-3100 or visit www.jtafla.com.
