Skyway Hours Extended for Free Dental Clinic

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA – April 18, 2016 – The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) is pleased to sponsor the Florida Dental Association Foundation’s 2016 FLA-MOM event. In support of the free dental clinic, the Skyway will offer extended hours on Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23. The Skyway is complimentary.

Skyway Schedule:
• Friday, April 22 4 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Saturday, April 23 4 a.m. to 9 p.m.

“We are pleased to support the community by partnering with the Florida Dental Association Foundation and offering access to the free dental clinic via the Skyway,” said Lisa Darnall, Vice President of JTA Transit Operations. “This event will make a difference in the lives of so many people in Jacksonville and we are grateful to be part of it.”

Complimentary parking will be available in the Johnson and Houston lots north of the Convention Center Skyway Station, located at 1071 W. Bay Street. Paid Parking is also available at the Kings Avenue Garage (Credit Card Payment Only).

The Florida Mission of Mercy (FLAMOM) event strives to relieve pain and treat dental infections for as many people as possible. The event will take place on Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23 at the Prime Osborn Convention Center located at 1000 Water Street. Patients will be seen on a first-come first-served basis from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Preregistration is not required. Typically, the dental services offered range from basic cleanings and fillings to extractions and root canals and, in some cases, even partial acrylic dentures (or “flipper”). Patients attending the clinic may wait for dental services for several hours to receive dental care and often are encouraged to arrive since early patients are treated on a first-come, first-serve basis.
