Satellite STAR Card Center Opens for Northside Seniors

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA – October 2, 2014
Individuals age 60 and over can obtain a Senior STAR Card at the Jacksonville Transportation Authority’s (JTA) new STAR Card Satellite Center now open at the Gateway Town Center.  Effective January 1, 2015, everyone born on or before December 31, 1954 will be required to have a valid, JTA issued Senior STAR Card in order to receive complimentary fixed route bus service.

“Seniors rely on our services to get to their doctor appointments, go grocery shopping, attend church and more,” said JTA Chief Executive Officer Nathaniel P. Ford Sr. “In light of the new fare policy related to seniors, it was important that we open a temporary location near our transit hubs to assist them with the transition.”

The center was opened to provide a convenient location in which they can obtain their individualized complimentary photo ID card.   We also have information about all STAR products and eSTAR, JTA’s new online pass buying option.  In addition, customers with reduced fare cards can have their valid card replaced if necessary.

The Gateway Satellite STAR Card Center is located at 5000-15 Norwood Avenue inside the mall adjacent to the Gateway Transit Hub.  The temporary center is open Monday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will remain open until January 31, 2015.   For directions to the center or questions about the services, please call (904) 718-2974.

JTA plans to open a Regency Satellite STAR Card Center on Wednesday, October 15 at 9501 Arlington Expressway, Suite 325.
