New Nighttime Trolley Service Launched in Riverside-Avondale

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA), in cooperation with the Riverside Avondale Preservation (RAP), will offer a Night Trolley service one weekend a month for a six-month trial period starting January 3.

“We are excited to partner with Riverside Avondale Preservation to offer safe and convenient transportation services for the Riverside Avondale nighttime crowd,” said JTA CEO Nathaniel P. Ford Sr. “I share the organization’s passion for improving the transportation and parking solutions for this historic neighborhood.”

The Night Trolley will operate Friday and Saturday nights, from 6 p.m. – 2 a.m., on the first weekend of every month from January 2014 through June 2014. Unlimited-ride, single-day passes can be purchased in advance for $4 at selected locations. A single ride can be purchased for $1.50 with exact change on the trolley. Seniors 60 and older have complimentary access. No credit cards will be taken on the trolley. Visit www.riversideavondalenighttrolley.com for a complete list of ticket sales locations.

“Our neighborhood is extremely supportive of this new JTA pilot project and we hope residents will pack the trolleys so that the service becomes permanent,” stated Carmen Godwin, Executive Director of Riverside Avondale Preservation.
The Night Trolley will feature stops throughout the neighborhood residential and commercial districts, hitting Five Points, Park & King, the Shoppes of Avondale, the Brewery District, Stockton & College, and the St. John’s Village areas. In addition, there will be a mobile optimized website available that will give customers real-time route information for the service, accessible at www.trolley.jaxmob.com.
