Local attorney appointed to JTA Board of Directors

Steven Diebenow has been appointed to the Jacksonville Transportation Authority’s board of directors by Mayor John Peyton. Diebenow will replace Donald P. Hinson who has served since 2002.

Diebenow received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Florida in 1991 and a Juris Doctorate degree with honors from the University of Florida in 1994. He was admitted to the Florida Bar and the Washington, D.C. Bar in 1995. During his career, Diebenow has worked on U.S. Senator Bob Graham’s legislative staff in Washington, D.C.; practiced land use, zoning and environmental law at Rogers, Towers, Bailey, Jones & Gay, P.A.; served as Mayor Peyton’s Chief of Policy and Chief of Staff; and worked as a principal at Rock Creek Capital, an alternative asset investment and management firm. Currently, Diebenow is a partner at Driver, McAfee, Peek & Hawthorne, P.L., representing individuals, corporations and landowning entities in general business, real estate transactions, land use and zoning issues.

“Mr. Diebenow brings knowledge in a number of areas including real estate, land use and zoning to the board, in addition to his legal expertise,” states JTA Executive Director/CEO Michael J. Blaylock. “His extensive involvement in the government arena will prove to be highly beneficial to this board.”

Diebenow will complete Hinson’s term, which runs through May 31, 2013. His first JTA board meeting is scheduled for October 28.
