JTA Showcases New OakLeaf Community Shuttle

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) showcased its new OakLeaf Community Shuttle Tuesday, February 25th, by offering customers a special trip to experience the region’s latest neighborhood transit option.

“Launching the OakLeaf shuttle services is a part of the JTA’s Blueprint for Transportation Excellence strategy to provide greater transit connectivity and mobility throughout the region,” said JTA CEO Nathaniel P. Ford, Sr.  “One of JTA’s top priorities is to provide excellent customer service.  Launching this new shuttle is a step in that direction, by not only offering regular shuttle stops, but also customizable trips to fit individual travel needs within the OakLeaf premium service area.”

The OakLeaf Community Shuttle (WS25) serves the OakLeaf Town Center, Orange Park Mall, and communities adjacent to Argyle Forest Boulevard and Collins Road (east of Blanding Boulevard.). This is the JTA’s 12th community shuttle.

State Senator Audrey Gibson, who was a special guest on today’s trip, has been instrumental in advancing legislation that enabled the JTA to expand transportation services across county lines.

JTA CEO Nat Ford and Sen. Audrey Gibson talk about the new OakLeaf Shuttle with residents of The Meetinghouse apartments near Collins Road. Four of the residents took their first-ever ride on the shuttle to the OakLeaf Plantation Shopping Center.

The shuttle connects with the JTA’s WS2 route at the Orange Park Mall to offer travelers the affordable ease of traveling to Downtown Jacksonville and other key area destinations.  The shuttle service also connects to Clay Transit’s Red, Green, Blue, and Orange lines at the Orange Park Mall.

Regular fare is $1.50 per trip, reduced fare is 75¢ per trip, and seniors ages 60 and over are provided complimentary rides. Customers can schedule premium curbside service by reservation for an additional 50¢ per trip (subject to availability.)  Curbside service reservations must be made at least two hours in advance or up to three calendar days before you plan to travel.
