JTA Recognized by APTA with Three National Marketing Awards
JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA – March 3, 2017 – Making Moves, the Jacksonville Transportation Authority’s (JTA) monthly television program received a national first place award during the 2017 American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) Annual AdWheel competition for electronic media. The JTA also won first place in the education and partnership category for the Pocket Pledge Safety Campaign and first place in the electronic media category highlighting transit needs for the Skyway Economics video.
JTA was recognized during APTA’s Annual Marketing and Communications Workshop held February 26 - March 1 in Tampa, Florida. JTA Senior Manager of Marketing Vanessa Brooks accepted the award on behalf of JTA at the AdWheels Awards Celebration.
“I am so proud of the talented team of professionals at the JTA,” said JTA Chief Executive Officer Nathaniel P. Ford Sr. “We have an amazing group of creative individuals who come up with these outstanding marketing campaigns.”
The season premiere and winning episode featured 12 stories, including JTA’s response to Hurricane Matthew and the Skyway’s new branding. The program is designed for the general public, JTA stakeholders and the city’s business and civic communities. The program is hosted by Donna Deegan, a former Jacksonville news anchor.
The goals of the Pocket Pledge Safety Campaign called Keep It In Your Pocket were to increase public awareness regarding distracted driving and improve safety on Jacksonville’s roadways in an effort to decrease JTA’s non-preventable accidents caused by distracted driving.
The Skyway Economics video was created to inform the general public about the issues the organization faces with maintaining, refurbishing and modernizing the iconic, 27-year-old people-mover system. JTA found new, unique and local business solutions to the growing problem of obsolete parts, higher repair costs and wait times that were directly affecting the JTA’s ability to serve the riding public.
