JTA Extends Skyway Hours for TaxSlayer Bowl and New Year’s Eve Festivities

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) is excited to provide complimentary transportation via the Skyway for the City’s New Year’s Eve festivities and the TaxSlayer Bowl. The Skyway provides resident and visitors with additional transportation options. Skyway hours will be extended on New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day and January 2.

The Skyway will be operational from 6 a.m. on New Year’s Eve until 2 a.m. on New Year’s Day. It will re-open at 10 a.m. on New Year’s Day and close at 12 a.m. Additionally, the Skyway will be open from 9 a.m. until 12 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2016. Skyway trains will depart the stations approximately every six to eight minutes.

In addition, the parking lots around the JTA’s Convention Center station located at 1071 W. Bay Street, will be open for complimentary parking after 5 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and all day on New Year’s Day.

“Thousands of people are expected to attend the festivities and fireworks for New Year’s,” said Lisa Darnall, Vice President of JTA Transit Operations. “We are pleased to operate the Skyway as a Downtown and Southbank connector.”
