Detours for MLK Parade

The annual Martin Luther King Day will be held in downtown Jacksonville on Monday, January 17, 2011. Staging and street closures will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the actual parade is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. and continued until approximately noon. The parade route will begin at Jefferson St. and Water St. It will past the Landing and turn left on Newnan St. Then turn right on Bay St. ending at Lot “J” at the stadium.

Affected JTA buses and trolleys will make the following detours:

Westside Inbound
From Park St.: Buses will travel Lee St.; right on Forsyth St.; left on Newnan St. to its regular route. From Rosa Parks Station buses will travel Newnan St.; right on Adams St.; left on Main St.; right on Bay St. to Lee St. then follow its regular route.
Inbound from Riverside Ave.: Buses will turn left on Forest St.; right on Park St.; then follow the Park St. detour. The route will reverse on outbound trips.

Southside Inbound
Buses will travel its regular route to the Acosta Bridge then exit at Broad St.; right on Forsyth St.; left on Liberty St.; left on Adams St. to its regular route. Outbound: Newnan St.; right on Adams St. (If Main St. Bridge is open, buses will use it). It not, buses go left on Lee St. to Park St.; left on Forest St.; left on Riverside St. Take I-95 S. and exit on San Marco to regular route.

Trolleys
Riverside Trolley:  Will remain on Riverside Ave by turning around at Leila St. No Downtown service during the Parade.
Bay St. Trolley: From St. Andrews Station: the trolley will travel left on Palmetto St.; right on Duval St.; left on Liberty St.; right on Adams St.; left on Main St.; then right on Bay St.  To St. Andrews Station: Bay St. to a right on Pearl St.; right on Forsyth St.; left on Liberty St.; right on Monroe St.; left on Catherine St.; right on Duval St.; left into the St. Andrews Station.
