Cavendish Named New JTA Chairman

JACKSONVILLE, FL — At their November/December meeting, the JTA Board of Directors elected Michael Cavendish as their new chairman, succeeding Ava L. Parker.

Cavendish was appointed to the JTA Board of Directors in 2007 by Governor Charlie Crist and served as vice chairman of the board in 2009 and 2010. He is a Florida native, a product of Florida public schools and a graduate of both the University of Florida and Florida State University. Currently, Cavendish is a Jacksonville-based lawyer practicing in the area of complex commercial litigation.

“We have many challenges ahead of us with the current economic times,” stated Cavendish. “I look forward to working with this board and JTA staff to enhance the transportation needs of Northeast Florida.”

Other officers elected include Vice Chairman Edward E. Burr, Treasurer Cleve E. Warren and Secretary Alan R. Mosley, P.E.

Cavendish and the new officers take office January 1, 2011.
