JTA Partners with Coastal Cab to Increase Transportation Access

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA – May 8, 2017 – The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) has partnered with Coastal Cab of Jacksonville to launch a pilot taxi program starting Monday, May 8, 2017. The service will operate in the former Mandarin Community Shuttle Zone which is bounded by I-295 on the south, San Jose Blvd. on the west, Sunbeam Road on the north and Hood Road on the east.

"We are proud to partner with Coastal Cab on our shared mission of providing safe and reliable transportation options for the Mandarin community,” said Lisa Darnall, of JTA Transit Operations. “The program is designed to complement and extend the reach of the fixed route system.”

JTA’s six-month long pilot program allows riders to use Coastal Cab to travel within a specific geographic zone. From there, riders can connect with the JTA fixed route bus system. On the return trip, they can use Coastal Cab to travel back home or to work (within the zone). Wheelchair accessible vehicles are available with advance notice. Cab drivers participating in the pilot program must follow strict safety compliance rules.

The service is available Monday through Saturday from 6:45 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Customers can schedule a trip by calling Coastal Cab direct at (904) 686-8111, by visiting their website at www.coastalcab-jax.com, by downloading the Coastal Cab app from the Google Play or iTunes store or by calling reservations at (904) 598-8724. The cost per trip is $2 per passenger and customers will pay Coastal Cab directly with cash or a credit card.
