JACKSONVILLE, FL — The Jacksonville Transportation Authority will officially open the new eastbound bridge of the Beach Boulevard Bridge project on Tuesday, December 22.
Initially, there will be two travel lanes in each direction (east and westbound) flowing over the two new spans that make up the bridge structure. The new bridge replaces the 60-year old B.B. McCormick drawbridge.
Additional work will continue for approximately the next two months on curbs, sidewalks and other final detail work on both the bridge and Beach Boulevard to complete the project. Eventually, three lanes of traffic will be accessible in each direction.
